Ashworth College Supports Metro Atlanta Summer School Teachers with "Kids in Need" Drive

Norcross, GA, May 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Ashworth College announced today it’s plans to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank “Kids In Need” program. During the month of May, Ashworth administration and staff will donate new school supplies for area teachers in low-income schools.

For some Metro Atlanta teachers, summer school programs are just around the corner. While equally important as the fall and spring program, when it comes to school supplies, summer school tends to fall outside the primary budget period, leaving some instructors scrambling for resources.

“Many students in the Metro-Atlanta area will be attending summer school which means there will be a need for school supplies,” said Melissa Maddox, Business Services Manager. “As an educational institution, we appreciate the need for students to have all tools necessary to succeed and the Ashworth staff is extremely excited to help.”

Supporting education-related causes is important to Ashworth, who considers Early Childhood Education and Childhood Career Skills among its more popular programs. Other sought after programs include health care, technology, and business.

Throughout the year, Ashworth makes a concentrated effort to support worthwhile causes to include Dress for Success Atlanta, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and March of Dimes.

About Kids In Need

For a school to qualify, at least 80% of the students must be enrolled in the federal free and reduced lunch program or, for high schools, have combined average SAT scores lower than 900. There is no cost to teachers or schools. The Kids In Need facility is reminiscent of a retail store and is continuously stocked with school and art supplies for grade levels Pre-K through 12.
