Local Career School Offers Online Training for Nursing Assistants in Oregon

Portland, OR, May 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Caregiver Training Institute announced today that it is accepting applicants into its first ever online course for becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

The school will become the first private career school in the state to offer online CNA training using the online course approved by the board of nursing. This online course was developed by Oregon Health Care Association (OHCA) and aQuire Training Solutions and uses a highly regarded, interactive approach to online training. Although Oregon suffers from one of the nation’s highest unemployment rates, Certified Nursing Assistants are still in demand. In fact, health care jobs are projected to grow more than 27% in the coming decade, compared to only a 14% growth rate for all other occupations, according to Oregon Employment Department. Individuals looking to begin a transition into a career in healthcare often find that nursing assistant training is the first step in this process.

“Online training is particularly helpful to many individuals who are struggling to make ends meet while facing time constraints,” comments Sharon K. Brothers, MSW, President of aQuire Training Solutions. Brothers’ company specializes in online education for health and senior care and has seen the demand for online learning increase significantly.

“We’re excited about offering an online option for our students,” comments Julie Bucher, the Program Director of the Caregiver Training Institute. “This is an option that many of our students have been asking for over the past several months. We are offering a variety of schedule choices to the student for the lab and clinical rotations also.”

Caregiver Training Institute is currently accepting applications to classes beginning immediately. Applicants should apply online at www.OregonCNAonline.com and select Caregiver Training Institute’s class listing for details about the class. Prospective students also need to attend an orientation session at the school to complete the registration process, pay for the program and get all the information they will need to get started.

Students will complete the first portion of the class online via the internet and then attend lab and clinical training under the supervision of a Board of Nursing approved instructor at Caregiver Training Institute and participating clinical training sites.

Those interested in applying for this class should go to the online application site, www.OregonCNAonline.com to apply.
