New York College of Health Professions Sees Encouraging Economic Outlook for Entrepreneurial Institutions
Syosset, NY, May 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- New York College of Health Professions will hold its 2009 Commencement Ceremony this Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Melville Marriott, Long island. The College is expecting about 1200 attendees and projects that this year’s operations at the College will be one of the best in its history because of its entrepreneurial approaches to education and health.
The keynote speaker is The Honorable Michael Balboni, the former Deputy Secretary for Public Safety for the State of New York, the senior homeland security and law enforcement official, who will address the importance of Homeland Security and Infection Control, an area in which the College is very active.
Trying to communicate the importance of Infection Control, which is vital to avoid another worldwide pandemic of enormous proportions, to nurses, teachers and the general public, the College has developed a Musical that it expects to promote in venues from Carnegie Hall to Broadway.
Mei Kong, Senior Director of Patient Safety and an expert in safety education and practices, including Infection Control, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Science for her work in nursing and her current role at HHC (NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation), one of the largest hospital systems, which includes Bellevue, the oldest hospital in the Western Hemisphere. New York College will be presenting its Infection Control musical to a public that has rarely seen such an intense mixture of medical procedures and entertainment. The Chairman of the College, as well as senior management, has in the past produced “Magic on Broadway,” as well as movies, owned a record company and licensed technologies used by many of the largest companies in the world.
This year Jitsuro Terashima, President of Strategic Planning at Mitsui & Company, one of the largest companies in the world, joined the New York College Board. He hopes to add to the emphasis of the College in preventative medicine and wellness in addition to the College’s work with those in Western MedicineCygalle Dias, who has one of the top rated spas in the world at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for her work in holistic health and will be working with the College to add cachet to the more clinical nature of the College’s Wellness Centers.
New York College has accumulated a large multimillion dollar surplus through entrepreneurship at a time when other institutions of its kind are in financial distress. The College is currently expanding into many new areas and is working on wellness products and centers with some of the largest companies in the world.
