Manitoba Venture Challenge Advances ResQ to Final Four Set for Banff

ResQ has presented a market expansion plan that has now taken the company into the "final four" of a competition to attract new investors.

Toronto, Canada, May 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Rob Warren, Executive Director for Entrepreneurship at University of Manitoba’s vaunted Asper School of Business, announced today that ResQ Track & Trace has now advanced to “the final four” of the Manitoba Venture Challenge and is slated to present in Banff next month. The Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship, alongside accounting firm Deloitte and Touche; Winnipeg-based law firm Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson LLP; and Manitoba Competitiveness Training and Trade, launched the innovative competition in 2008. This year the winning venture will receive a prize package worth $20,000, split evenly between cash and in-kind services.

“We’re ecstatic and eagerly look forward to the next level of the contest,” enthuses Chad Hughes, ResQ founder and president. “We’ve worked incredibly hard on all the elements of the presentation over the past few months, while also managing a rapidly growing business. In fact, we happily amended our business plan, based on the feedback from very successful business operators and numerous investors in attendance. The advice received during the previously held workshops as well as last week’s presentations has been invaluable. I have no doubt we’ll receive several credible offers as a result.”

According to Warren, the program this year placed greater emphasis on education with a series of boot camps in March and May. The camps taught managers and entrepreneurs how to evaluate their ventures as potential investors, with an emphasis on building business plans and presentations that have investment appeal. "It was clear from the presentations that all of the competitors are passionate about their ventures and devoted considerable time to the boot camp process," he continues. "This passion and dedication also made it very difficult to select the four ventures that have been invited to pitch in the final round on June 25."
