NSCS is an honor society inviting freshmen and sophomores with a GPA of 3.4 and above.

Criteria for selection include academics, leadership, and participation in school and community activities. The award is open to sophomore and junior NSCS members majoring in business, math, computer science or other related fields.

Judges for the contest included eight GEICO employees in the fields of recruiting, leadership development, product management and underwriting research.

"We are excited to present two outstanding members with the 2009 GEICO Achievement Award," said Shannon Smedstad, GEICO's e-Recruiting & Branding Specialist. "They were selected after careful consideration from a very impressive list of students. We chose them because both have superior academic records and because of the quality of their leadership and extracurricular activities."

Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS' executive director said the Achievement Award is a wonderful opportunity for students. "The award recognizes students who have worked hard and deserve financial assistance," he said. "We're proud to be partners with a company like GEICO, which has recognized high-achievers like Daniel and Kristen for over 20 years."
