Microlife Medical Home Solutions, Inc. Appeared on Colorado & Company’s Live Television Show and Discussed Hypertension and Home Blood Pressure Monitoring

Golden, CO, May 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Microlife Medical Home Solutions, Inc. (MiMHS) appeared on Colorado & Company (COCO); a live television show aired on the Denver, CO NBC affiliate station. MiMHS was an invited expert guest on the May 27th live airing and spoke about hypertension and home blood pressure monitoring.

“May is national hypertension month and individuals need to be aware of the potential risks from undiagnosed and uncontrolled hypertension” said Scott McDoniel, Ph.D.; Director of Clinical Affairs for Microlife Medical Home Solutions. MiMHS and two invited guests, R. Scott Hammond, MD, FAAFP; family physician at Westminster Medical Clinic and Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine & John Bender, MD, FAAAP; family physician at Miramont Family Medicine and recent past president of The Colorado Academy of Family Physicians, spoke about the clinical benefits of home blood pressure monitoring.

“At least 30% of clinic blood pressure measurements do not reflect your true blood pressure. They are either too high or too low so doctors are giving too much or too little medication to a third of their patients” said Dr. Hammond. Dr. Hammond continued to say “We know over 50% of strokes and other heart diseases are the result of inadequately treated blood pressure. Experts believe inaccurate office blood pressures are a big part of this problem.” MiMHS introduced the WatchBP Home Blood Pressure Monitor (HBPM) as a device that patients can safely and easily use to help monitor blood pressure while out of the medical office.

The WatchBP Home device is a clinically validated, FDA cleared, device that incorporates the national and international hypertension guidelines for accurate blood pressure monitoring while outside the clinic office. Drs. Hammond & Bender use the WatchBP Home device with their patients for accurate and reliable assessment of patient blood pressure. Both provided patient examples of how home blood pressure measurements from the WatchBP Home device helped their patients.

Approximately 45 million adults have hypertension and this number is expected to increase by 25 to 30% by 2015. As a result, physicians and patients need to be aware of the risks of uncontrolled and undiagnosed hypertension” said Dr. McDoniel. Microlife Medical Home Solutions is committed to helping the physician and patient improve blood pressure control to help reduce stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
