Tremaine Hawkins and Mike Phillips to Perform at Judge Mablean's Annual Father's Day and Scholarship Brunch June 21st

Los Angeles, CA, June 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Joining Judge Mablean Ephriam to present awards, celebrity guests Loretta Devine, Rockmond Dunbar, Mother Love, Anna Marie Horsford, Gary Sturgis, Demetria McKinney, and Kelly Price.

Some of today’s most talented television and music stars will come together to join Judge Mablean Ephriam in honoring Fathers on Sunday, June 21st. Hosted by Judge Mablean Ephriam, Founder/Chair of the H.U. F. Awards, and the Mablean Ephriam Foundation, a non-profit, public benefit corporation, the Honoring Unsung Fathers (H.U.F.) Awards and Scholarship Brunch is scheduled to take place at 1:00 PM at the Downtown Los Angeles Marriott Hotel, 333 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California.

Celebrities such as Loretta Devine (Eli Stone and Grey’s Anatomy); Rockmond Dunbar (Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys and Prison Break); Mother Love (Author and Motivational Speaker); Anna Marie Horsford (Gridiron Gang and The Shield); Gary Sturgis (Tyler Perry’s Daddy’s Little Girls and Pride); Demetria McKinney (Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Why Did I Get Married?) and Kelly Price (Gospel and R&B artist) will present the five winning father’s with awards for their outstanding commitment to their family and/or community.

In addition to these awards, Judge Mablean and the Board of Director will make two special presentations, the Founder’s Award to Judge Mablean’s spiritual father, Pastor, Dr, Ronald C. Hill of Love & Unity COGIC and mentor, Attorney Walter Gordon, II, and the Board of Directors’ Award to James Castillo, Former Vice President, UPS Operations-West Los Angels District.

The event will include brunch and the awards program with entertainment, featuring, gospel recording artist, Tramaine Hawkins, and jazz saxophonist, Mike Phillips. Also, serving as the house band, will be jazz and R&B group, CounterPoint (featuring Stoney Dixon, Gip Noble, Louis Van Taylor, and vocalist, Elaine Gibbs). Comedian Michael Colyar will serve again as Emcee. The H.U.F. Awards 2009 Honorary Co-Chair is Petri Hawkins Byrd, “Officer Byrd” of the TV court show, Judge Judy.

In addition to the Father’s Day Awards, the foundation will giveaway a total of twenty-two (22) scholarships to students from the Greater Los Angeles Area on the day of the event. Three (3) will be awarded to 2009 high school graduates and two (2) to continuing college students between the ages of 19-35 who quit college, but have now returned. Each scholarship applicant will receive a book fee award.
