Seeking a Career in Health Care? Explore and Prepare to Succeed

A recent survey by the American Medical Association (AMA) indicates that most health care career seekers lack adequate preparation to pursue professional education programs

New York, NY, June 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In a recent national survey conducted by the American Medical Association (AMA), (which asked; what are the best ways to increase the shortage of professional health care workers) the overwhelming majority of respondents indicated that career exploration and adequate preparation for licensing, certification, and post-secondary education programs was the primary factor.

The American Healthcare Career Institute (AHCI) is working to address this issue with a new online career exploration and preparation program. "The decrease in availability of professional health care workers is a worldwide problem that must be addressed," said an AHCI program developer, Leonard Cox. "The American Healthcare Career Institute is working to help adequately prepare people who seek to pursue licensing, certification, and post-secondary education programs."

Most people are not aware of the numerous choices available when deciding on a career in health care; further, few have adequate academic preparation to successfully pursue rigorous health care education programs.

The online health care career exploration and preparation program in development by the American Healthcare Career Institute (AHCI) is expected to be a particularly valuable resource for traditionally underrepresented and disadvantaged groups. Sarah Diamond, AHCI’s senior developer adds “Our program will be available to anyone who desires to be well prepared to excel in the health care career of their choice. We will cater to the most disciplined and self-motivated student. We feel that they deserve this opportunity and are the most likely to succeed in our online student centered independent learning environment.”

It is no secret that there is critical shortage and high demand for health care workers across a wide range of specialties. The World Health Organization (WHO) says that this major health care worker shortage problem is worldwide and affecting some the poorer countries far worst than those that are highly developed. Still, the situation in the United States, Canada, and other developed nations is critical. This is the best time in history to consider a career in health care.

The American Healthcare Career Institute (AHCI) program will focus on the most in-demand and highest paying health care careers like pharmacy, dental, and anesthesiology. Along with extensive career exploration, AHCI will offer courses that cover knowledge and awareness that people are expected to be exposed to in their junior and senior years of high school and freshman and sophomore years of college, concepts related specifically to the health care career of choice, and numerous other references and resource links. The program will be instructor supported and hosted by Online Career Advancement at www.onlinecareeradvancement.com.
