Hands-On Labs, Inc., (HOL), producers of LabPaqs, collections of laboratory science experiments for the distance learning market, has been selected as a "Colorado Company to Watch" by the Colorado Office of Economic Development. Denver, CO, June 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hands-On Labs, Inc., (HOL), producers of LabPaqs, collections of laboratory science experiments for the distance learning market, (www.labpaq.com) announced it has been recognized as a Colorado Company to Watch awardee by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

LabPaqs are boxed collections of science materials that are primarily used with online learning lab science courses in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, plus Environmental and Forensic Science. They allow college-level students to earn transferable credits doing at home the same science experiments performed on campuses. Educators adopt a LabPaq like a textbook, assign it in the course syllabus, and students buy it online.

The e-learning market is growing at 20 % per year. LabPaq sales are growing at a faster pace. On May 1, HOL moved into a 28,500 square foot facility, quadrupling its size. More than 20,000 LabPaqs will be shipped in 2009. HOL recently entered into a strategic alliance with McGraw-Hill Higher Education to offer cost effective combined packages to students.

“We are pleased that our dedication to science literacy is being recognized. In a recent student survey, 70% took courses as a requirement for a health sciences career and 87% achieved an A or B in their class. Students sited convenience and flexibility for taking online classes, and 4 out of 5 preferred an online/LabPaq experience over a campus lab course,” says HOL president and CEO, Linda Jeschofnig.

“Our growth is attributable to more science educators recognizing that they can deliver their courses online coupled with genuine hands-on “wet lab” experiences by adopting LabPaqs,” states VP of Academic Relations, Ron Krempasky. HOL was recently featured in The Denver Post.

The awards program was developed by the Edward Lowe Foundation to recognize innovative companies generating quality jobs and creating new industries. It attracted over 250 nominees and selected 50. Winners will be honored on June 25, 2009 at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
