Honest Abe Would be Proud: Lincoln 200 Preview Party Benefits Wounded Warrior Project: Thursday, July 2

Philadelphia, PA, June 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- “Whatever you are, be a good one,” said Abraham Lincoln. The inspirational founders of the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit veterans service organization dedicated to honoring and empowering wounded U.S. service members, exemplify Lincoln’s advice. Funds raised from the Lincoln 200 Grand Opening Preview Party on Thursday, July 2 benefit The Wounded Warrior Project. Created by fellow veterans motivated by the difficulties that injured service members face when returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, the Wounded Warrior Project provides tangible support for the severely wounded to assist in their healing process, both physically and mentally.

The Wounded Warrior Project delivers backpacks bedside to injured service men and women at military trauma centers. The backpacks contain essential care and comfort items including clothing, toiletries, calling cards, CD players and playing cards. Additionally, this charitable organization raises awareness by enlisting the public’s aid and providing direct programs and services for injured service men and women.

Lincoln 200, a celebration of our 16th president's 200th birthday, begins on Thursday, July 2 with the Grand Opening Preview Party fundraiser to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. The festival continues through Sunday, July 5 at Philadelphia’s Independence Mall with complimentary educational performances, interactive exhibits, live music and historical experiences.
