CLM Advisory Board Changes

New York, NY, July 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Includes Senior Management from XL Insurance, Bar Association of San Francisco and CNA.

The Council on Litigation Management (CLM) announced several changes to its Advisory Board, including the addition of three new members.

James M. DiVirgilio of XL Insurance, Yolanda Jackson of the Bar Association of San Francisco and Jim Martin of CNA are welcomed new members to the Advisory Board.

CLM also announced that Board member Bob Peahl is leaving the Board. Mr. Peahl has moved from AIG to join the D.C. office of the Wilson Elser law firm. CLM Executive Director Adam Potter said, “We greatly appreciate Bob’s service and contribution as a member of the CLM Advisory Board and we wish him well in his new endeavors.”

New Board member Jim DiVirgilio is Senior Vice President and Regional Head of Claims North America with XL Insurance and is located in Hartford Connecticut. Prior to joining XL, he was Vice President of General Liability and Group General Counsel with Travelers Indemnity Company. Mr. DiVirgilio has served on numerous Litigation Management Industry groups including the Defense Research Institute Insurers’ Roundtable, American Bar Association Staff Counsel Committee, American Insurance Association Liability and Litigation management sub-committees, International Association of Defense Counsel, and American Corporate Counsel Executive Committees. He is a member of the Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar Associations.

Yolanda M. Jackson is the Deputy Executive Director and Diversity Director of The Bar Association of San Francisco, the second largest bar association in California. Much of her focus is on effectively increasing diversity within the legal profession and many new diversity pipeline programs have been created at BASF under her leadership. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at both the University of California Hastings College of the Law, and Golden Gate University Law School. Ms. Jackson’s has served in litigation management roles at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, Allied Group Insurance Companies, and Allstate Insurance Company. She is also an experienced mediator, arbitrator, consultant, trainer and facilitator.

Jim Martin is the Vice President of Standard Lines Liability Claim for CNA. He provides strategic leadership for the overall performance of the Liability line of business and tactical leadership for specific complex matters. Prior to joining CNA, Mr. Martin was the Director of Commercial Claims at Nationwide Insurance, where he helped manage the national commercial claim portfolio. Prior to that, he served as Claim Counsel at Nationwide, where he directed strategy on complex claims and class actions. Before joining Nationwide, Mr. Martin was a litigation manager, senior claim adjuster and multi line claim adjuster at other major Midwestern insurance carriers.

In another development, CLM Advisory Board member Kevin Quinley has been appointed Vice President of Risk Services for Berkley Life Sciences. Mr. Quinley has over 30 years experience in the property and casualty insurance business. He has been at the forefront of claims and risk management services for life science companies, and he is a frequent speaker and author on life science industry insurance and risk management issues. Mr. Quinley has worked with hundreds of life science firms – from Fortune 500 companies to startups -- in reducing their cost of risk.
