Louisville, KY, July 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Kentucky Region is holding its annual Wish Ball 2009: Food, Wine and Wishes: The Roaring Twenties. Hosted by 102.3 The Max personalities George Lindsey, Aaron Miller and Lynda Lambert, the taste-of event will include music, dancing and décor reminiscent of the twenties. The food/ wine/beverage tasting includes a lavish sampling of the Louisville area’s best local restaurants, wineries, beverage companies and authentic distilleries. Tickets are still available.

Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on spectacular live and silent auction packages including 2009-2010 season tickets to PNC Broadway Across America; GE Profile 30" Stainless Steel Range; and a membership to Polo Fields Golf Course.

Honorary wish child Travis will be on hand to share his wish experience. Despite having 35 surgeries since birth, 13-year-old Travis doesn’t let spina bifida, Arnold Chiari (brain malformation) or hydrocephalus (water on the brain) slow him down. The Moore Middle School 7th grader takes violin lessons, goes fishing, enjoys snow skiing and playing ping pong.

Travis’ wish was to go on a Disney Cruise and meet all of his favorite Disney characters and swim with the dolphins. In October 2008, Travis and his family made memories of a lifetime aboard a Disney Cruise ship.

“To meet Travis, one would never know his vocal chords are paralyzed! He never stops talking! Travis is very outgoing and once you meet him, you’ll never forget him,” remarks Travis’ mom, Donna.

“There certainly have been enormous hurdles for Travis in his life and will likely be more, but he always gets through them with a big smile and a great attitude. We are very proud of his accomplishments,” says Donna.

Currently there are over 170 local Kentucky wish children waiting for their dreams to come true. By joining the Make-A-Wish Foundation at The Gillespie for the fabulous event, children like Travis will have the opportunity to escape the harsh reality from battling a life-threatening illness and having their heartfelt wishes granted.
