HomeAid Teams Up with Movers.com

Moving resource website to donate $1 per qualified user to local HomeAid chapters.

North Brunswick, NJ, July 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Long before the current economic downturn, Vidyadhar Garapati (GV), CEO of Movers.com, witnessed the brunt of economic turmoil on the American dream. He remembers one particularly heartwrenching story when a Movers.com user called him after receiving free competitive online quotes from several local moving companies. In a distressed tone, she told GV that while she appreciated the free estimates, she still didn’t know how she was going to afford to move. At that moment, GV knew it was time to give back to the community to help others in similarly difficult situations, and he knew that HomeAid, a leading national non profit provider of housing for the homeless, was just the place to turn to.

“Movers.com is really proud to be participating in such a great program with HomeAid. My business partner Wesley Renzas and I have always wanted to give back to the community and HomeAid is the perfect match for our desire to help others,” said GV, CEO of Movers.com. “Movers.com has evolved from two very different backgrounds. Wesley Renzas has over 30 years in the moving industry. He is a really good-hearted person who has done moves for less fortunate customers at actual cost and occasionally even for free. I have over 15 years of technical and marketing experience and have helped the company donate several thousands of dollars to orphanages. We have always thought about ways to give back to the community, and in helping over 800,000 customers, we’ve come across many heartbreaking stories of people who cannot afford to move. We know how much it costs to relocate, and we want to use this initiative to help others.”

“Over the past 20 years, HomeAid has become the largest provider of housing for the temporarily homeless in America. Our facilities have now housed more than 100,000 people as they have set about to rebuild their lives following a life-changing event that has rendered them homeless,” said Jeffrey A. Slavin, CEO for HomeAid America. HomeAid is supported in large part by the homebuilders of America, and their trades, consultants, and suppliers. These groups construct housing for the homeless, much of the cost of which is contributed by the industry, and then donate these facilities to a care provider who offers services and assistance to enable the homeless to rebuild their lives. HomeAid’s partnership with Movers.com can help move thousands more of America’s homeless into dignified housing where they can start anew,” added Slavin.

Movers.com will donate $1 to HomeAid America for every user who requests free moving quotes through its partner websites. The donations will be made in the name of the partner companies and will benefit HomeAid efforts in the user’s local or regional area. Movers.com is looking forward to supporting local communities, and GV is overjoyed in knowing that his wish of giving back to local communities through HomeAid will now be granted.

“Even several years ago at the time of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, people were moving because of unavoidable problems like natural disasters. It’s our turn to give back, and Movers.com is excited to participate in this great program. We look forwarding to contributing for a long time to come,” GV said.
