Lake Geneva, WI, July 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Community Green Energy has launched a sweepstakes as part of its goal to put 1,000 new solar roofs in cities across America. The “Solar Roof” sweepstakes runs through December 31, 2009, and is open to all adult U.S. residents. Participants are invited to submit an entry at sweeps.communitygreenenergy.com.

One winner will receive a complete 1 kilowatt roof mounted solar photovoltaic package, including solar panel, converter, mounting hardware and wiring. Shipping and assembly will be the responsibility of the winner.

"Nothing improves the curb appeal of your home like a new solar panel," says Community Green Energy managing partner Fritz Kreiss. "Our plan is to make solar panels as common a sight in America as television antennas once were. If green energy is going to become a reality in America, we're going to have to attack the problem of meeting energy needs both locally and nationally. That means millions of small, local, distributed green power systems supplementing the giant wind farms and solar assemblies you see in the news."

The solar panel being awarded in the Community Green Energy sweepstakes will mount on virtually any roof, and will provide steady electric generation in any part of the country. "Lots of people believe that you have to live in a sunny state to take advantage of solar," says Kreiss, "but that's not the case. As long as you position the panel correctly, and have a reasonably clear horizon around your house, you will get as much electricity from a panel in Chicago as you will in Atlanta or Phoenix."

Community Green Energy was founded by Kreiss to change the way green energy is financed in America, with a goal to fund 1,000 new green installations in every major American city. The first Green Energy Initiative, in the Chicagoland area, was organized in December 2008. Kreiss also wants to change attitudes about the effect one person, and one panel, can have on America's overall energy picture. "A solar panel generates emissions-free, electric-bill-free power to your home, adds value to your property, puts dollars back in your pocket, improves your long-term financial security and gives you 'green cred' as well," he says. "I'm aiming for the day when prospective buyers look for the panels or the wind turbine before they ask about the stainless steel appliances or the finish on the cabinets."

Contestants may enter once per day. For complete rules and a detailed prize list, visit sweeps.communitygreenenergy.com.
