Reflecting on his achievements, Brian notes, “Great companies don’t sell products, they offer systems that address specific customer problems.” He continues, “I’ve always been proud of what we’ve accomplished. To have our company recognized through this award nomination is exciting for me and for everyone at Baxa.”

Brian founded Baxa Corporation in 1975, with a product designed for safe and precise administration of oral medications. Today, Baxa still manufactures and markets those oral syringes, along with microprocessor-controlled peristaltic pumps for medication preparation, devices for safe handling of IV admixtures, and computer-controlled mixing systems for IV solutions to hospitals and alternate-care facilities worldwide. A privately held company, Baxa is focused on providing systems for safe fluid drug delivery and efficient drug handling.

Discussing the company’s success, Brian states, “Baxa is unique in the way we bring people in and have them participate in the business. Profit sharing at Baxa makes every associate an owner. That philosophy is key, along with the understanding that the customer is our only boss.” Baxa has turned its founder’s philosophies into a winning formula for growth, with a track record of greater than 20% annualized growth in its 30 years.

Brian Baldwin holds more than 30 US and International patents. He is listed in Who’s Who in Medicine, and was one of the founders of the Colorado Medical Device Association and its first President. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Device Manufacturer’s Association, the Advisory Board of the University of Colorado, Denver, Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, and the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy Advisory Board.
