Academy Award Winner Robert Duvall Joins the Marine Corps Marathon as a Charity Partner

Members of the Robert Duvall Children's Fund will join an estimated 30,000 participants at this year's Marine Corps Marathon. The fund has joined MCM as a charity partner in the hopes of promoting Healthy Kids around the world.

The Plains, VA, July 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Thousands of spectators will gather to cheer on an estimated 30,000 participants at the 34th annual Marine Corps Marathon on October 25, 2009. Among the participants will be members of the Robert Duvall Children’s Fund (RDCF), which has joined the Marine Corps Marathon as a charity partner in the hopes of promoting Healthy Kids around the world.

Children between the ages of 6-13 are encouraged to participate in MCM’s Healthy Kids Fun Run, on October 24th. RDCF will sponsor a number of children to run the race in support of global health care initiatives. Additionally, in an effort to raise support for the children of Argentina, RDCF will provide runners with an additional opportunity to register for either the MCM 10K or the full marathon.

Runners who submit registration through RDCF will receive guaranteed race entry, fundraising support, a ticket to the marathon-eve pasta dinner buffet at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, and an invitation to our finish line celebration tent. In addition, participants who meet their fundraising goals by October 18th will be invited to receive a personal thanks from Robert and Luciana Duvall in person the night before the race prior to the Carbo Dining event. Proceeds from fundraising efforts through RDCF will go towards improving the living condition of children in Argentina.

“Our vision is to help fight poverty, to give hope to families in need, and to let them know that there are people out there willing to help them,” Luciana Duvall.

Actors Robert and Luciana Duvall are committed to improving the living conditions of children in Northern Argentina by sponsoring public works projects which include the construction and/or refurbishment of schools and hospitals as well as partnering with sustainable microfinance organizations. These initiatives are made possible through partnerships and fundraising efforts around the United States, specifically through home in Northern Virginia.

No federal or Marine Corps endorsement implied.
