Acua and AA in Training Link-Up

Coventry, United Kingdom, July 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Acua Ltd has signed up AA Insurance to a major management training programme to help improve the skills of staff at its Cardiff headquarters.

Up to 28 of the company’s staff are currently studying towards university accredited management capability diplomas – and none of them ever have to leave the office to attend classes.

The training involves regular one-one sessions led by Acua specialist learning and development consultant Felicity Healey, who has been recruited in Cardiff to mentor and coach the students through their learning.

Management training expert Acua was established last year, out of Coventry University, and specialises in working with businesses at their place of work – cutting out time the students would lose in travelling to study, along with the hassle.

The ground breaking courses - which also include supply chain management and financial planning - are part government funded and involve the completion of four assessed assignments and up to ten separate case studies based around real business issues.

It is the first time AA employees in its Cardiff office have taken advantage of the course, following the success of similar courses at the AA’s Breakdown centre in Oldbury. It has also just been rolled out to AA colleagues based in Newcastle.

Janet Craig, management development manager at the AA said: “The response we have had to this learning opportunity has been hugely encouraging.

“We are committed to developing our managers by enhancing the talents of our team in Cardiff, and across the rest of the UK. The fact they are able to learn using work based case studies is particularly useful.

“The AA is already seeing the benefits of the course as our team come up with different ways of proposing ideas using the skills they are honing on the course.”

Acua’s Felicity Healey, who lives in Llanelli, added: “The course is completely tailored to manage individual and team performance and organisational change within the company.

“It has gone really well so far - the AA has been really welcoming, and everyone on the course is enthusiastic about how they are developing new skills to help them in the work place.

“Some of the students at the AA admit to not traditionally being university students and really appreciate the opportunity they have been given to undertake university standard education.”
