End Summer on a High Note with Two Athletic Events in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, Ala.

Gulf Shores, AL, July 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- As the final days of summer wind to a close, the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission and the surrounding Pleasure Island community will host two final tournaments before the schedule resumes around Labor Day.

First on deck are 20 youth softball teams for the 2009 Summer’s End Softball Tournament, which will be held July 31st through August 2nd. Returning to the area for the fourth year in a row, this tournament is a sanctioned by the National Softball Association. These girls, who range in age from 8 to 18 years old, are set to participate in the three days of competition at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Games begin each day at 9:00 a.m. and should end around 9:00 p.m. Pool play will conclude with three championship games on Sunday, which start at 9:00 a.m. For more information, visit www.alabamansa.com.

Meanwhile, the sugar white sand will serve up a thrilling weekend with the Gulf Coast Region Beach Series Grand Championship on August 1st and 2nd. Approximately 25 volleyball teams will compete in head-to-head action at the main public beach in Gulf Shores. Matches are set for 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
