Voices of Courage: An Evening with Pakistani Women's Rights Activist Sameena Nazir

New York, NY, July 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Global Goods Partners (GGP), a NYC-based Fair Trade organization, is pairing up with local organic boutique Sustainable NYC to host Sameena Nazir, founder of Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA), an NGO that works for the promotion and protection of human rights in rural Pakistan.

Ms. Nazir will give a talk on human rights, her experience with grassroots community development and her work with Pakistan's IDP (internally displaced people) crisis. Her presentation will be followed by a meet and greet session with light refreshments. "Not only has Ms. Nazir campaigned tirelessly for the rights of women and girls in Swat Valley - even during attacks from Taliban on girls’ schools – but she has also spearheaded an amazing organization from the grassroots up, effecting change in her home country of Pakistan," says Isaac Raisner of GGP.

Sameena Nazir will be speaking at Sustainable NYC, 139 Avenue A and 9th St., at 7pm on July 30th. Admission is free and open to the public. Hand-made products of Pakistani rural women artisans will also be available for sale to help raise funds for girls’ education projects.
