Springville, CA, July 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has proclaimed August 2-8, 2009 as National Farmers Market Week. In celebration, Springville Ranch is hosting a Farmers Market on Saturday, August 8th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm where locals can purchase fresh produce, grass-fed beef, enjoy live music by Patti Torrey, children’s activities and other attractions.

This year marks the 10th annual National Farmers Market Week. Since the USDA began declaring National Farmers Market Week in 2000, the number of farmers markets has grown more than 60%, from 2863 markets in 2000 to 4,685 in 2008.

According to the USDA, the Springville Ranch Farmers Market is one of the approximately 4,800 in the country and approximately 400 in California. The Springville Ranch has just re-opened and is currently booking weddings and special events. This will be its first Farmers Market since re-opening. This special market will feature local farmers selling a wide variety of products, including fresh eggs, fruits and vegetables and grass-fed beef.

“Farmers markets are good for everyone,” says Stacy Miller, Executive Director of the Farmers Market Coalition, a non-profit supporting farmers markets across the country. “They are good for your health, good for your community, and good for the economy. Not to mention they offer the freshest foods from America’s most entrepreneurial farmers and preserve our country’s agricultural traditions.”

“Farmers’ markets are a great source of fresh local foods,” Brooke Holve, Springville Ranch Marketing Manager said. “These products are made close to home by your friends and neighbors. I invite all locals to come to the Springville Ranch, explore the grounds and experience local entertainment and fresh products.”

The Springville Ranch is located at 34600 Highway 190 (at the corner of Highway 190 and Balch Park Road) in Springville, CA.
