Ridgewood, NJ, August 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on NBC will be hosting the finale to the Northeast’s First Annual Watermelon Seed Spitting Competition for kids held at Six Flags Great Adventure on July 4th sponsored by The National Watermelon Association and The Wumblers. www.wumblers.com . Jimmy Fallon will be meeting the two winners from the July 4th competition this Monday, August 3rd (broadcasting Weeknights at 12:35est/11:35cst), which is also National Watermelon Day. Live on the air will be these two champions competing for the reigning title of Northeast Watermelon Seed Spitting Champion for 2009.

Taylor Haiduk from Long Island, will be facing off against Chris Harrington of New Hampshire. Both kids have proven to be watermelon seed spitting experts by spitting over 25 feet and trumping the rest of the competition at the July 4th event.

The runner-up will be awarded two tickets to Six Flags for their efforts. Grand prizes will include: a “one of a kind” baby Wumbler autographed by Mark Sanchez, the most recent NFL quarterback to sign with the New York Jets; a monetary prize; four tickets to a Six Flags park; a special t-shirt announcing the 2009 Northeast Watermelon Seed Spitting Champion; and an iPod touch loaded with iSeedSpit!, a new iPhone/iPod touch app to hit the iTunes marketplace. iSeedSpit! puts virtual watermelon seed spitting in the palm of your hands and is a collaboration between The Wumblers, 211me, and The National Watermelon Association of the United States. Scores from the app translate to participants Facebook accounts and have already launched an exciting global competition.

Beyond The Wumblers and The National Watermelon Association of the United States, sponsors of the original July 4th competition include: Six Flags Great Adventure—which will provide all August 3rd audience members with a complimentary ticket to Six Flags— Pathmark, Sweet Mama Produce, The Florida Watermelon Association, Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse, Temple-Inland Corrugated Packaging, Rhino FX, and ImpreMedia.

The goal of this unique event was to educate kids to their social, global, environmental, and humanitarian responsibility to each other and the world. “FUN” was the means in which this lesson was communicated. Donations from the proceeds resulting from the July 4th event and merchandise sold were made to Tuesday’s Children, www.tuesdayschildren.org, further emphasizing the importance of “giving back!”
