Measure for Measure Announces Its Opening

Using a combination of quality craftsmanship and an awareness of what materials are used on and in the home, it is possible to create a toxic-free living space while helping the environment.

Bridgeport, CT, September 12, 2006 --(PR.com)-- At the tip of Black Rock, in a rather industrial area, something very Green (as in environmentally safe) is going on. Measure for Measure, Connecticut’s first center for Green building has just opened their doors for business with an extensive array of products for the home. For constructing homes, products range from cotton insulation to non-toxic paints, stains and sealants to antique and reclaimed lumber. For creating a healthier indoor environment, Measure for Measure feature air purifiers, non-toxic cleaners and organic cotton linens for bedding. They are also offering a resource room for industry professionals to host classes and continuing education programs in the wellness field.

Measure for Measure was founded by business and life partners Erin Buckley and Jonathan Tuminski. Initially started by Tuminski as a carpentry business, the company evolved through Buckley’s ongoing commitment to the environment and their combined belief of the necessity in the construction industry for readily accessible building materials that perform well without endangering one’s health or the environment. Standard building materials are laden with formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals, which cause lung and skin irritations among other maladies. Measure for Measure offers alternatives that are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and are comparable or superior to their conventional counterparts. For example, the company’s cotton insulation is made from recycled jeans and treated with a borate solution. It passes all building codes, is safer to handle, helps save on heating and cooling costs and is acoustically superior to fiberglass insulation.

Measure for Measure’s mission is to help consumers who care about the environment take a logical approach to making their home a healthier, happier, more comfortable place. It is the founders’ belief that every person makes a difference and can help make the world a more ecologically friendly place. Through Measure for Measure, their mission is to provide products that are safe for the people manufacturing them, safe for the people exposed to them and safe for the environment in which we share. Stop by Measure for Measure and see how you can make a positive difference in your home and in the environment.
