)-- Poets Express has released event photographs, live audio recordings of performing poets, and video recordings of contributed poetry and live performances at Last.fm (http://www.last.fm/music/Poets+Express), MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, and Dark World International.
Poets Express is a new night celebrating performance poetry in Bantry, West Cork, Ireland. Hosted by Dark World International artist Kylyra, the first Poets Express was held on 11 July 2009. The show featured live poetry, video poetry, and music by Shaky Dawg and Future Dialogue. A children’s poetry competition, Kids Express, was held in conjunction with the event. The winners were allowed to perform their poetry live. Catering was provided by Rowena Doak (the Poetry Chef) and the hall was decorated with paintings by Dale Mawhinney.
Attended by poets from Ireland and Manchester (UK), the night included live performances from Rowena Doak (Bantry), Dale Mawhinney (Belfast), Eric Rhodes (Ahakista), Tom Jordan (Cork), Tomas O Carthaigh (Co. Offaly), AndyN (Manchester), Siofra Martin (Bantry, Eurochild 2009 poet), Ruby Sullivan (Clonakilty, Kids Express 8-12 year old winner), Jane Barclay (Skibbereen, for Erin Barclay, Kids Express 13-17 year old winner), Antonionioni (Manchester), Andrej Kapor (Dublin), and Derek Fanning (Birr). Contributed poetry for the event video footage and brochure was donated from poets in the UK, Ireland, the US, India, Republic of Macedonia, and Canada.
Dark World International provided audio recording on the night, and hosted the Poets Express Guest Studio Sessions the day after the event. Planet Mythos Video provided video footage and filming for the night. Videos include contributed poetry, live performances, and special Guest Studio Sessions pieces.
