This workshop will study how reinsurance companies and stop loss carriers can utilize medical tourism to reduce both aggregate and specific claims within self funded employer groups and self funded trusts. The workshop will review an actuarial analysis of medical tourism and how and when a reinsurer should or would give a discount for a self funded plan that has medical tourism embedded into it. It will also address how to properly underwrite medical tourism and what elements should be required within the underlying medical tourism program. Also, addressed will be amending plan documents to allow for overseas medical care, and eliminating liability to the reinsurer/stop loss provider for implementing medical tourism.This workshop will also address the competitive advantage for reinsurers and stop loss providers who implement medical tourism.

The pre-conference workshop is Monday, October 26th, 2009 at 8:00am- 5:00pm, with a break at 12:00-1:00pm for the networking lunch. The Exhibit hall opens conveniently at 5:00pm.
