Borealis Ventures Backs Speed Venture Summit™

Portsmouth, NH, August 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Borealis Ventures, the leading early stage venture capital investor in New England, has signed on to support the Speed Venture Summit™ 2009, according to today’s announcement from the NH High Technology Council and NH Small Business Development Center. SVS is the premier speed-dating-style event for fast-growth businesses and investors in New England, and will be held on Tuesday October 28, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua, New Hampshire.

“Through our support of the inaugural Speed Venture Summit,” said Jesse Devitte, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Borealis Ventures, “we proved that a well-designed speed-pitching event is an exciting opportunity for investors to meet the next generation of great entrepreneurs and learn firsthand of their plans that will power the region’s innovation and job creation. We are very pleased to continue to support the Summit as it powers the capital formation efforts of the region’s top growth companies and prospects.”

“Borealis has made a major commitment for many years to help launch some of New England’s best young companies,” said Summit producer Tim Platt. “We are extremely proud that that they have chosen to back the Summit once again, when the need for growth capital is urgent for entrepreneurs and talented executives. With the support of Borealis Ventures and other key sponsors, the Speed Venture Summit has rapidly become the one event in New England that CEOs and CFOs of the region’s hottest companies must attend.”

At the October Summit, participating businesses will represent all sectors and development stages, from start-up to later-stage and will “speed pitch” to the region’s savviest and shrewdest investors, ranging from individuals and Angels to venture capital firms and private equity and mezzanine financers. Organizers expect that a total of approximately 50 companies will speed-pitch to 25 different investor groups in private 1:1 sessions throughout the afternoon.

The “speed-pitching” segment of the Summit will be held from 2:00 to 5:00pm, and will be followed by a two-hour business networking session open to the public that will provide an excellent opportunity for young companies to gain exposure and knowledge around seeking investment capital. The event will end with a pitch-off from among the day’s top companies.
