Virima Strengthens Its Management Team with Addition of Industry Veteran

Salil Kulkarni brings deep customer knowledge and IT management experience to rapidly-growing software company.

Atlanta, GA, August 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Virima Technologies, an Atlanta-based software company, adds industry veteran Salil Kulkarni to its management team. Kulkarni, formerly CIO with John Harland Company, served on Virima’s advisory board and joins the company today as its chief operating officer and chief information officer.

“As a former CIO himself, Salil brings a deep understanding of Virima’s customer as well as 20 years of IT experience to our management team,” said Palaniswamy “Raj” Rajan, co-founder and chief executive officer with Virima Technologies. “We have strong growth potential in the marketplace and Salil will help us scale our sales and operations to meet this opportunity head on.”

Kulkarni was most recently chief operating and information officer at IVOX, an Atlanta-based driver risk management service provider. As the former chief information officer with Decatur-based check printer, the John H. Harland Company, which sold for $1.7 billion in 2007, Kulkarni is a seasoned entrepreneur who has proven success in the IT industry. In addition to holding three software patents, Kulkarni has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Louisville, Speed School of Engineering.

“Virima is an opportunity for me to work with a fast-paced company that was founded on an innovative software solution and one that is focused on accelerated growth,” said Salil Kulkarni. “I look forward to working with a seasoned group of entrepreneurs and software innovators to develop the marketplace, the company and our unique product offering.”

IT assets are a large percentage of an organization’s capital expense. Managing these assets for optimal efficiency is not only important, but essential, for the success of any business. Yet, a recent study found that nearly 40 percent of large enterprises in North America are not managing their IT assets and inventory in one place.

Offering a solution to this business threat, Virima is an IT Business Operations Automation (IT-BOA™) platform that improves business alignment, performance and governance. The platform enables IT executives the ability to turn data into intelligence they can work with and broadens the focus from systems and networks to include people, processes, relationships and historical events – all by using autonomic computing.

Virima Technologies was founded by serial entrepreneurs Palaniswamy "Raj" Rajan and Karun Rajasekharan in 2007 to revolutionize IT business operations through autonomic computing technologies. Rajan, Virima's CEO, holds three technology patents and has successfully launched and managed three technology companies over the past 15 years, including Vigilar, Inc., a leading information security technology firm, and eLaunchpad, LLC, an early-stage venture capital firm/incubator focusing on IT infrastructure and network security technologies. Rajasekharan, Virima's Vice President of Products, has over two decades of leadership and IT management experience with software vendors, most recently as director of Engineering and Product Management for Internet Security Systems. The Virima Board of Directors is comprised of former Bellsouth CIO Fran Dramis, Sanjoy Malik, a software industry entrepreneur who founded Air2Web and Synchrologic, Inc., and Rajan, who serves as Chairman of the Board.
