)-- As the Great Recession continues to affect millions of Americans, many parents of students enrolled in private Christian schools are withdrawing their children and opting for a more affordable education. Some are even abandoning private schools altogether and turning to the public school system. As a result, Learning By Grace, an online homeschooling academy based in eastern Pennsylvania, is encouraging parents to consider homeschooling as a viable option if they are de-enrolling their children from private Christian schools due to financial reasons.
“We are staunch supporters of private schools and for those who are happy where they’re at, we encourage them to stay,” said Mimi Rothschild, founder of Learning By Grace.
“However, we want parents to know that Learning By Grace offers a great alternative if they can no longer afford private school and are considering other options,” Rothschild added.
As private Christian schools continue to see decreased enrollment due to economic reasons, Learning By Grace is hoping parents will consider its curriculum, which can be used by students to substantially reduce costs and maintain their Christian education at the same time.
As strong supporters of the private school system, Learning By Grace announced earlier this year that it has made its curriculum available to Christian schools. Those who choose to utilize the online curriculum for their students are required to have computers with Internet access and printing capabilities.
“The economy is having a meaningful effect on private Christian schools and that is one reason we have a program where they can also use our curriculum,” noted Mimi Rothschild. “We want to be a resource for both parents and schools looking for more cost-effective options.”
