London, United Kingdom, August 21, 2009 --(PR.com
)-- TrustedPlaces, (London), the rapidly growing UK local reviews website, is a key partner in the Project Hyperlocal initiative that DMGT beta-launches today. The pilot project across an initial 50 websites is lead by the Associated Northcliffe Digital (AND) and sees the creation of a series of community sites targeted at small towns and neighbourhoods. Each site offers a wealth of local information, such as news and local classifieds, but also allows local groups to be formed by residents who participate in discussion forums, publish their own stories and connect with people nearby. The list of currently active sites can be found here.
The business directory part of the solution is provided by TrustedPlaces, through a co-branded, hosted service, which allows:
Users to discover and share recommendations on local businesses.
Business owners to participate in the conversation and promote their business to a captive audience.
The partnership marks a key milestone for the three year old start-up and the first collaboration of its kind in the local market space in the UK.
Sokratis Papafloratos, CEO and co-founder of TrustedPlaces commented: ‘Offering the TrustedPlaces capability as a hosted service allows us to reach a far wider audience of consumers and local business owners. It’s an important strategic development for us and we are delighted to have DMGT, one the biggest local publishers in Europe, as our first partner.’
Roland Bryan, Strategy Director for AND added that: ‘Hyperlocal is an exciting pilot for us that combines some of our strongest traditional assets with the voices of real people in communities across the UK. TrustedPlaces is an excellent partner, both in terms of the product offering but also the execution and customer service that the team provides.’
