Staples Goes Back to School with Oink Ink Radio

New York, NY, August 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- For the third year, Staples has called on Oink Ink Radio to help with the office supply giant’s Back-to-School radio effort.

During the :30 radio commercial entitled “Duped,” a father drives his young son and daughter to have “one final summer adventure” before summer ends and school starts. The kids are excited to be going someplace they are told is full of “wonder” and “magic.” However, there is nothing but confusion when the car pulls into a local Staples. It’s clear, though, that saving on graphing calculators, paper and backpacks makes for an exciting time for the children’s father. “Duped” is reminiscent of “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” Staples’ most well-known and loved back-to-school television commercial ever created, which was reprised for the 2009 back-to-school season.

Oink Ink, the award winning bi-coastal creative agency called on veteran voice actor Jim Hartman, and youngsters Ginnie Lee House and Troy Doherty to play the family. Says Oink partner Dan Price, director of the spot, “Jim and the kids worked off one another really well. They made the short spot really stand out.”

Oink Ink handled all aspects of production for the spot, from writing and casting to direction and mixing. “We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with Staples,” says Price. “While collaborating with ad agencies will continue to be our bread and butter, it is refreshing to work with clients directly. I think both Oink and Staples bring a unique perspective to our projects.”
