MD-IT Expands to Michigan with Acquisition

Boulder, CO, August 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- MD-IT, a national provider of medical documentation software and services for physician offices and ambulatory clinics, announced today that it has acquired the medical transcription business unit of Moretti Group, located in Kalamazoo, MI. The acquisition underscores MD-IT’s commitment to create a nationwide network of offices to help physician groups transition to electronic medical records (EMRs). Moretti vice president Jon Moretti has left the family business to join MD-IT as a managing director.

“We have come a long way from 25 phone lines and modems,” noted Patricia Moretti, president of the Moretti Group, which consists of court reporting, medical transcription, videoconferencing and document management services. “Jon spearheaded the growth of our medical transcription business and in doing so completely immersed himself in the technology and his vision of where transcription and EMR are heading. With a progressive company such as MD-IT, Jon will really be able to use his knowledge and vision for this industry to help our clients.”

“I feel extremely fortunate to join a company that shares my enthusiasm for helping others go from paper to electronic records while keeping costs manageable,” said Jon Moretti. “With MD-IT, I can help physicians adjust gradually to changes brought on by EMRs, without disrupting their practices. They can continue to dictate, and use our software and service to convert patient notes to digital format that can be easily stored and shared.”

“We welcome the energy, creativity and professionalism that Jon Moretti brings to our company,” said Tom Carson, president and CEO of MD-IT. “His background in manufacturing combined with his healthcare knowledge brings a unique perspective to how we can help physician offices automate and streamline their workflows."

MD-IT is the largest company serving physician offices and ambulatory clinics nationwide, a market estimated at $7 billion of the $10 billion spent annually on medical documentation services in the US. Hospitals account for the remaining $3 billion. MD-IT’s medical documentation software and service enables physicians to spend more time with patients and family, and less time on the paperwork required to document patient visits.
