Washington, DC, August 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The following chapters of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars were awarded platinum status-- the highest honor designated to an individual NSCS chapter-- at the NSCS’ Honor Gala in Washington, D.C. on August 15, 2009.

• University of California – Los Angeles
• Florida International University
• University of Central Florida
• University of St. Thomas
• Winona State University

“These chapters have truly embraced the ideals of NSCS,” said Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS’ Executive Director “They have created an engaging experience for their members while giving back to their communities and paving the way for other chapters with innovative programs.”

For these elite NSCS chapters, the reward of attaining platinum status is second only to the impact they’ve had on the community and the bonds it has strengthened between members.

To attain platinum status, chapters are required to hold an induction ceremony for new members, create a student mentoring program, hold campus–wide events to support NSCS’ integrity initiative, create an on-campus membership recruitment campaign and engage a campus office in a chapter event.
