Jeff Rand and Wave Energy Acquire Leases at Fandango Field in Zapata County, Texas

Wave Energy president Jeff Rand announced recently that the company has acquired leases at the Fandango Field in Zapata County, Texas, with drilling expected to begin soon on the DeGarza Wells that will cover the Wilcox trend.

Houston, TX, August 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- According to Wave Energy president Jeff Rand, Wave believes that it has identified a promising accumulation in a fault block on the Wilcox trend in and around the Fandango Field in Zapata County, Texas.

In addition, Wave Energy has announced that it has acquired leases at the Fandango Field in Zapata, with drilling is expected to begin soon on the DeGarza Wells that will cover the Wilcox trend.

The prospect closure covers an area of 700 square acres and is located adjacent to the southernmost leases of the Fandango Field. This field was discovered by Shell in the 1970s and developed into the mid-1980s. Early wells in the Wilcox trend targeted very deep reservoirs of 16,000-18,000 feet.

A second round of development occurred in the late 1980s and in the time since, eight other wells have been completed in the same reservoir that have delivered solid returns.

“Sufficient well log and seismic control exists to make an accurate integrated interpretation of regional structure and stratigraphy in this Wilcox trend extension,” explained Rand. “Additionally, the regional growth faults and rollover anticlines present plenty of new exploration frontiers, each of which holds the promise of significant additional reserves in the Wilcox trend.
