Ringwood, NJ, September 01, 2009 --(PR.com
)-- The New Jersey Skylands is somewhat of a hidden gem in Passaic and Bergen Counties. Ask any Jerseyan what Skylands is and you'll get a host of different answers from "mountains" to "that place with the mansions." The Skylands actually consists of nearly 1,000 acres of lush gardens and magnificent manor and is listed on the national register of historic places. The 96 acres surrounding the castle-like Skyland Manor constitute the official New Jersey Botanical Garden (NJBG) and consist of such unique speciality gardens as the "Magnolia Walk" and the "Octoganal Garden." The NJBG delights in introducing families to the Skylands at its annual Harvest Fest. This year marks the 8th Skylands Harvest Fest, which will take place on October 3-4, from 10 am to 5 pm in the Botanical Garden in Ringwood State Park, Ringwood, NJ. Admission is free, and the Harvest Fest will feature hayrides, pumpkin painting, face painting, garden and manor tours, storytellers, Octoberfest food and beer tastings, live music, and new this year: a craft show featuring all handmade wares by local artisans. The craft show will be run by The Craftique Creations and Promotions, an event-planning company that specializes in promoting arts and crafts made in and around New Jersey. Craftique Director Christine Cuccio Radlmann says, "We think handmade crafts will be the perfect addition to the Skylands Harvest Fest. While children are painting pumpkins or enjoying hayrides, parents can get a jump start on holiday shopping and browse unique handmade gifts." Crafters should email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 718-755-2990 for an application or more information.
