NSCS Announces NSCS-GEICO Scholarship Recipients

In partnership with GEICO, NSCS has awarded four $5,000 NSCS-GEICO graduate school scholarships. Award recipients are chosen on the basis of their essays on their graduate school plans, as well as a recommendation letter.

Washington, DC, September 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In partnership with GEICO, NSCS has awarded four $5,000 NSCS-GEICO graduate school scholarships.

The 2009-2010 recipients are:
Erin Behrens; alumnus of Winona State University; working toward an M.D. in Clinical-Counseling Psychology at Illinois State University.
Alexander Flowers; alumnus of St. Xavier University; working toward an M.S. in Biotechnology and Chemical Science at Roosevelt University.
Erin Hafkenschiel; alumnus of the University of California- Berkeley; working toward an M.D. in Public Policy and Urban Planning at Harvard University.
Rebecca White; alumnus of the University of Maryland; working toward an M.S. in Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

"NSCS is proud to offer a $5,000 scholarship to four of our graduate school members", said executive director Stephen E. Loflin. "Each recipient wrote inspiring essays in which they detailed their plans following graduate school and outlined the many experiences that have led them to where they are today. We are very pleased to be able to aid them in their pursuits."

Award recipients are chosen on the basis of their essays on their graduate school plans, as well as a recommendation letter. NSCS is built on the principles that with scholarship comes a responsibility to develop leadership and a duty to perform service.

The recipients of this award have demonstrated their ability to lead and their commitment to service in their local community and around the world through their essay answers, which are evaluated by the NSCS Scholarship Review Committee.
