New Powdered Sports Drink Specifically for High Endurance Athletes

HYPR Sports Drink uses novel carbohydrates with electrolytes and antioxidants to provide Hydration+Performance+Recovery.

San Luis Obispo, CA, September 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- By combining unique ingredients that address Hydration+Performance+Recovery into one powdered formulation - HYPR Sports Drink™ is the only sport drink using a unique combination of carbohydrates together with a blend of electrolytes and anti-oxidants specifically targeted to high endurance athletes.

HYPR Sports Drink uses Galactose as the "backbone" carbohydrate that has the noted advantage of being metabolized differently than sucrose, glucose or fructose. Typical sport drinks use sucrose (table sugar) that delivers a quick and dramatic spike in blood glucose levels that can lead to a big crash. Because galactose is metabolized differently (by the liver and intestine), the rise in blood sugar is much more gradual and minimizes the corresponding drop. In addition to this natural an novel monosaccharide (naturally occurring in figs, lentils and other legumes) HYPR Sports Drink features a unique blend of anti-oxidants (for recovery) and electrolytes to aid in hydration and overall performance.

Developed in conjunction with noted professor of nutrition Dr. Scott Reaves from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly), the company that is launching the product already has plans to expand the product offering with 2 new flavors due to hit the market by the end of the year. “We are a small start-up with big plans”, explains Director of sales and marketing Matt Thule “with our initial product offering just beginning, the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Reaves believes that galactose in combination with green tea extract and a slight amount of caffeine can provide more sustained energy levels for longer periods, providing the basis for the product to be of particular benefit to high endurance athletes.

With an extensive background marketing consumer packaged goods, Thule points out that as good as the actual product is – the packaging and marketing around the product is even better: “Looking at the competitive products in the market today – none have taken full advantage of the opportunity to speak to the end user like we have. Our packaging has visual appeal that speaks directly to the consumer about the first priority for any beverage – ‘does it taste good?’”

According to Thule “Dr. Reaves and his team went through extraordinary taste tests and reformulations in order to achieve what I think is the best tasting and most effective product on the market today.”
