Chicago, IL, October 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- For the second time in a month, Chicago real estate company Dream Town Realty has a luxury home listing featured on NBC's LX.TV program "OpenHouse". OpenHouse is a weekly show about home design trends and real estate in Chicago, L.A. and New York City. The property is an award-winning single-family home in Old Town, a small upscale neighborhood on Chicago's Near North Side. The episode originally aired September 13 on NBC Channel 5 Chicago and is now available to view on Dream Town Realty's Chicago real estate website (www.DreamTown.com).

The 4-story property is an architecturally significant residence that has appeared in various architecture and real estate publications, such as Home & Architectural Trends, Crain's Chicago Business, and Chicago Home & Garden. It was custom built by the developer/owner as his own residence in 2004, designed by Richard Blender of Wilkinson Blender Architecture. LX.TV's OpenHouse takes viewers inside 1852 North Sedgwick Street for a personal tour by the homeowner. The segment has a running time of about 2½ minutes. The clip can be seen at www.dreamtown.com/properties/1852-sedgwick-nbc.jsp

"The home incorporates a very creative use of the standard Chicago lot," said listing agent Jennifer South of Dream Town Realty. "Skylights and open stairwells pull direct sunlight to the lower levels and the home actually cantilevers out over the front driveway to maximize livable space."

A notable design element of 1852 N. Sedgwick is the employment of curtains, partitions and risers to subtly define the rooms. The main level flows from kitchen to dining room to living room with floating ceilings and waterfall tiers down to a wall of asymmetrical rear windows overlooking the home's sunken Zen garden. At the front of the house, a unique glass door-wall opens to seamlessly connect the large Chef's kitchen with an outside terrace.

"This home has several outdoor areas, including a private deck in the master suite with a see-through fireplace to the bedroom," said South. "There is also a Zen-like terraced backyard with lounge seating, gardens and a sculptural water fountain."

The backyard gardens can be accessed from the top floor by an exterior spiral staircase and a catwalk off the main floor. Double glass doors in the downstairs studio/office lead from the lowest level right out to the private courtyard deck, which gives way to oversized concrete steps with built-in planters and wooden seats. The design resembles a miniature outdoor amphitheater – exactly what the owners had in mind when building the residence. "The owners are very musical and they wanted to have a stage-like setting to entertain their guests on occasion," South explained.

OpenHouse walks viewers through the grounds and offers an up-close look at the rest of the home's highlights, which are also featured on www.DreamTown.com. The property at 1852 N. Sedgwick is listed for $2,295,000. Other property details include:
