Rappel 33 Stories from the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego & Enjoy a Concert for Courage

Kids Included Together’s ‘Over the Edge’ & ‘Concert for Courage’: two daring and dynamic charity events benefiting San Diego youth.

San Diego, CA, October 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- On October 16 & 17, 2009, Kids Included Together (KIT) will host two unique fundraising events celebrating courage and the inclusion of children with disabilities. The fun-filled weekend starts on October 16th with a ‘Concert for Courage’ featuring artist Justin Hines. The fun continues on Saturday, October 17th with an event never before experienced in Southern California. Individuals will push themselves to the limit and rappel from the 33rd story of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego’s Harbor tower, landing poolside. Funds raised will support Kids Included Together, a San Diego based non-profit that supports recreational, child development, and youth development programs that include children with and without disabilities.

The concert will be held on October 16, 2009 at the Birch North Park Theatre and starts at 7:30 PM. Headlining the evening is Justin Hines (justinhines.com), a powerful songwriter with a strong message of love. He is possessed with an unflagging spirit and living with the rare genetic joint condition Larsen Syndrome has offered him a unique perspective on the world:

… I didn’t branch out too much as a kid because of my physical situation, and now that I’ve got to see the world a little bit more, it’s certainly shaped my perspective somewhat. You go to places like Dubai and China and you see the differences, but you also see the similarities in all of us, the humanity in people... – Justin Hines

In addition to the concert, Justin will join the 33-story rappel which begins at 9 AM for participants on October 17, 2009, descending a height of approximately 357 feet in roughly 15 minutes. He will rappel from his wheelchair alongside participants that include Ross Shimabuku, Sports Director, Fox 5 News at Ten, Jan Giacinti, KIT CEO, and more. Friends, family and supporters can cheer participants on from the landing party, which will feature food, entertainment and family-friendly activities.

“The entire team at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is very proud that Hyatt is able to donate the use of the hotel for such a worthy cause,” said the hotel’s General Manager, Ted Kanatas. “We all salute the great work done by Kids Included Together. It is very consistent with our own Hyatt F.O.R.C.E. program (Family of Responsible and Caring Employees), which annually involves thousands of Hyatt employees in community service activities.”

Tickets for the Oct. 16 concert are only $23 and can be purchased through overtheedgeforkit.com. There is also still time to sign up to rappel or support one of our many rappellers. Learn more about both events at overtheedgeforkit.com.
