Asset Manager Bonuses Hit Again

PRPi Consulting publishes its annual asset management Remuneration Forecast for 2010, analysing the 2009 bonus pool projections of leading global asset managers to give firms forward-looking information on market practice in the forthcoming bonus season.

London, United Kingdom, October 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- PRPi Consulting publishes its annual asset management Remuneration Forecast for 2010. This study analyses the 2009 bonus pool projections of leading global asset managers to give firms the best possible forward-looking information on market practice in the forthcoming bonus season.

Even the best performing firms are predicting that revenues will be less than in 2008 and this will lead to reduced bonus pools in most firms to the tune of at least -10% in the median players to over -30% in the worst performing firms. This reduction on 2008 follows a dramatic reduction in bonus pools the previous year.

“It looks like asset management firms will be pegging back their bonus funding again following a big reduction in 2008,” shares PRPi Consulting Managing Director, Richard Parkhouse. “Performance fees will be hard to earn which will impact revenues, profits and ultimately employee remuneration,” Parkhouse adds.

PRPi’s study models the effect of revenue, cost and profit reductions on a series of key ratios which govern the compensation decision process to give firms a precise picture of where they are likely to be positioned in the market in the bonus round paid by most firms in early 2010.
