Greater Frederick Advertising Federation to Hold Professional Development Event

The Greater Frederick Advertising Federation is holding an event titled “Building Your Personal Brand" on Thursday, October 15 at the Creekside Conference Center in downtown Frederick. It will feature a panel of experts in interviewing, recruitment, business etiquette, negotiation, and impression management.

Frederick, MD, October 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Marketing and advertising professionals are quite familiar with the concept of branding. But how often do they consider their own personal brand?

That is what the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation aims to find out at their October event on “Building Your Personal Brand.” Schedule for Thursday, October 15 at the Creekside Conference Center in downtown Frederick, this event will feature a panel of experts in interviewing, recruitment, business etiquette, negotiation, and impression management.

“We decided to get back to basics for this event,” GFAF Vice President Tobin Lehman explained. “Sometimes we become so wrapped up in the day-to-day, we forget things like our personal image, conversational approach, and professional tact.”

The event panel will feature Heather Joines, director of recruitment for Engine Performance, and Katrina Van Dopp, a certified image consultant and CEO of Katrina Van Dopp Consulting. Engine Performance is a Baltimore-based talent agency for creatives for which, Joines oversees staff development for national agencies. Van Dopp has over 20 years of experience in negotiation and 12 years of experience in business etiquette, corporate and personal branding, and impression management.

In addition to the panel discussion, the event will also feature photographer Mary Kate McKenna, who will be taking professional headshots for attendees.

“The cost of the headshot is included in admission,” Lehman added, “making this a valuable opportunity all GFAF members and any professional looking to capture a great looking image for their career.”

Admission to the event is $15 for GFAF members, $20 for non-members, and the GFAF is offering a $5 discount for students and professionals who are in-between jobs. To RSVP to the event, please visit the GFAF’s website at www.greaterfrederickadfed.org.

In celebration of the organization’s 20th anniversary, the GFAF is partnering with a nonprofit organization for each event of the year. This month, the GFAF is working with Mission of Mercy. Since 1994, Mission of Mercy has been providing free healthcare, dental, and prescription medication services to the over 25,000 patients who are uninsured and underinsured in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Each year, Mission of Mercy holds a charity auction at their November gala. For this event, they are looking for gift card donations of any kind and any denomination to be auctioned off at the gala. Attendees who bring a donation to the GFAF event will receive a chance to win door prizes.

Donations for Mission of Mercy from the public are welcome. Please contact Gorham at lisa@jeanpetersondesign.com for details.
