)-- With the credit crunch still affecting many businesses, mortgage brokers are looking to diversify more than ever.
One area of business which has started to become more fashionable is to offer clients a pension review. Not necessarily with the intention of new monies being paid into the funds, but as a minimum, to ensure the pension provider is performing as well as it should be. This review – potentially leading to a Pension Transfer, can be offered on a referral basis.
Although brokers may refer their clients to a local IFA or other pension referral companies, there are still a few hurdles to overcome to be able to maximise this opportunity. For example many brokers may feel uncomfortable talking about pensions / introducing the subject into a mortgage review conversation. Or often may have difficulty in finding out what has happened to the lead.
However a company by the name of Gatsby Financial Solutions have recently launched an online system to help brokers.
Every introducer is assisted by an experienced Business Development Manager and backed by full marketing support. Also each introducer has access to a real time online system which allows them to check the status of a case at anytime.
Darren Horne, Operations Manager, told us “At Gatsby we realised that the life of a mortgage broker is hard enough without having to experiment trying out new marketing ideas. We are always investing in unique ways which we can help our introducers boost their pension referrals. Some of these will involve a cost such as postage, but others we can provide for free.
“The issue of pensions is becoming more prevalent in the press these days and clients will be looking for someone to help them. With our expertise in building marketing plans, we hope that we will not only generate more pension referrals for our introducers but it will boost their core business too - given we operate a strict no cross selling policy.”
