On Site Energy Supplies Power to "Tunnel to Towers Run/Walk 2009" for Second Consecutive Year

On Site Energy (OSEC) sets up generators in Brooklyn and Manhattan to supply power along the path that the heroic Firefighter Stephen Siller took from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center on 9/11,

New York, NY, October 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- On Site Energy was proud to provide generators and their PEACH unit for the second consecutive year during the annual “Tunnel to Towers Run/Walk”. This year the annual charity event expected more than 20,000 participants from the metropolitan area, across the country and as far away as England and Hawaii.

The annual run/walk followed the path Firefighter Stephen Siller took on 9/11. Heroic Firefighter Stephen Siller, father of five, raced on foot with 75 pounds of gear strapped to his back through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center Towers and laid down his life for others that day. The “Tunnel to Towers Run/Walk” honors not only Stephen, but also the memory of all those who perished on that fateful day. Construction at Ground Zero is underway, but moving along slowly. New Yorkers remain optimistic that the transformation at Ground Zero will soon be visible, although the finish date for the construction remains unclear.

On Site Energy provided temporary power solutions by placing sound attenuated generators along the walk/run path. Dennis French, Project Coordinator said, “One of the additions this year were the speakers that were placed inside the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to provide music for the runners as they followed Stephen Siller’s path. OSEC provided the temporary power for the speakers, while Maryland Sound provided 2 miles of speaker cable and speakers, that had the tunnel rocking.”

On Site Energy also had generators providing power to vendor tents that served food to the race competitors and On Site Manufacturing’s PEACH (Packaged Electric Air Conditioning Heating) unit was on hand to provide power and cooling to the NYFD dignitary tent near the finish line. PEACH, a first responder emergency equipment unit, utilizes a 45 kW generator for electricity, with a 10 ton air conditioner for cooling and a distribution panel that provides [6] 110V power outlets for accessories.
