B-TEK Scales Provides Paradise Lawn with Digital Scale

B-TEK Scales provides a new digital scale to a neighboring lawn care company working with a tri-county solid waste district near Smithville, Ohio.

Canton, OH, October 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Paradise Lawn Care, in Wooster, Ohio has worked with the Stark- Tuscarawas-Wayne Joint Solid Waste District to accept lawn waste and turn it into useable materials for the area residents. The goal is to tap into the food waste that is thrown into land fills and combine that with the yard and animal waste that they currently accept, for free. Grant money from the District provided funding for the digital scale from B-TEK Scales, LLC in Canton, Ohio. Paradise Lawn has taken the proactive approach in contacting area grocery stores and area colleges to accept their food waste. “The sheer weight of food waste is a big incentive to recycle it” says Bart Morr, president of the lawn care and compost business. “Right now only 3% of food waste is being diverted from the landfills. We’re trying to improve on that.”

The government has been a large advocate to recycle food waste with animal and lawn waste. The green movement seems to always have support, no matter how the economy seems to fluctuate. The Joint Solid Waste Districts partnership with Paradise Lawn care saves them the costs associated with setting up their own facility or landfill, which would be “considerably more expensive” states Mike Sigg, of the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Joint Solid Waste District.
