2009 Rotary Oktoberfest – 5K Road Race

Walhalla, SC, October 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Oconee County Rotary Clubs in cooperation with the Oconee Runners Club will present a 5K fund raising event for the support and promotion of Rotary International's drive for the elimination of Polio. Walkers and runners, young and old are all welcome to enjoy some exercise, experience the Oktoberfest in Walhalla and support this worthy cause.

This exhilarating 5k Run is held every year in Walhalla, South Carolina. Nestled in the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Walhalla has been hosting the Oktoberfest since 1979. Festivities include crafts, lederhosen, and carnival rides and the festival wouldn’t be complete without authentic German music, dancers and food.

This year’s event will be held on the 17th of October at the Walhalla Civic Auditorium and will begin at 9:00 A.M. Two fun runs are scheduled for children after the race in the soccer stadium. The master of ceremonies will be Herb Tyler from Chick-fil-A Seneca/Clemson. There will be good competition, good prizes, good fellowship, the Chick-fil-A cow and a good cause. Awards will be given for overall winners and first, second and third place male and female runners in the standard age group categories. T-shirts will be also available for all pre-registered runners/walkers. For more information call 864-9023 or register online at oktoberfestrun.com.
