Metal Separation for Conveyors or Stand-Alone Applications

S+S presents a new separation unit for contaminated plastic granulate at FAKUMA 2009.

Schoenberg, Germany, October 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH presents a new metal separation unit called PRESEP on their stand at FAKUMA 2009 from 13 Oct. to 17 Oct. 2009 in Friedrichshafen, Hall B1, booth 1303. The unit can be installed on conveyors to analyse plastic granulate or as a stand-alone unit to analyse grinding stock, regenerate or rejected material. The advantage of the S+S separation unit PRESEP is its combination of a magnetic and a metal separator and its material proportioning.

The usage of highly contaminated plastic granulate is a serious problem in the plastics industry. Under the current pressure for more efficiency in the market, the importance to deal with this issue increases even further. Numerous products allow the usage of industry quality grinding stock and regenerate. However, the economical advantage quickly vanishes if contaminated granulate causes machinery downtimes and additional maintenance. To address this problem, S+S developed the metal separation unit PRESEP for integration into conveyor systems as well as a stand-alone solution.

PRESEP functions as a metal pre-separation unit when grinding stock, regenerate, etc. is directly fed into the device within the central material conveyor. First, the granulate passes a magnetic system with neodymium magnets via vibrator chutes used for proportioning. The magnetic system separates all Fe metal particles. For easy and quick cleaning, the system is equipped with Easy-Clean technology. In the next step, the material passes the metal separator RAPID VARIO which separates all non-magnetic metal contamination even when enclosed in the product. A suction funnel transports the material for further processing.

The S+S metal separation unit PRESEP can not only be used as a device which is integrated into the conveyor system but also as a compact, mobile stand-alone solution to be used in production and stocks.
