Boeing Connects 2 More F-15E Simulators Using Quantum3D’s IDX Series Independence IG Solution

San Jose, CA, October 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) real-time visual computing solutions, announced today that Boeing has connected two additional F-15E Mission Training Centers to the U.S. Air Force’s Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON) using Quantum3D’s IDX Series Independence IG Solution. One at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. and one at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom.

These two sites join the F-15E MTC at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, which Boeing connected to the DMON in June. F-15E pilots at all three bases now can train virtually with military aircraft pilots located around the world. Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) provides an advanced training environment in which simulators flown by front-line aircrew are linked via the DMON from their home bases.

On the F-15E MTC program, Quantum3D’s IDX Series Independence IG systems will be used to drive both Out-the-Window (OTW) displays and simulated Night Vision Goggles (NVG). For the OTW displays, Boeing is employing Visual Integrated Display System (VIDS), Boeing’s a high-brightness, high-contrast, OTW visual display system that is designed to enhance the user’s ability to train and maintain critical aircrew flying and weapons systems skills in single or multi-ship environments. The F-15E NVG displays will be driven by Independence Sensor Channels equipped with Quantum3D’s nVSensor™ sensor post processor option and viXsen™ sensor software that features dynamic, realtime physics-based IR and NVG sensor simulation with MODTRAN4 atmospherics. Boeing selected Independence based on the system's demonstrated ability to meet the DMT system's requirements for mission-critical image quality, performance and target recognition in a multi-channel environment, at a significantly lower acquisition and total cost as compared to proprietary image generation solutions.

About Independence
The top-of-the-line Image Generator (IG), the IDX Series is ideally suited for a wide range of mission-critical military and civilian applications that require synthetic environment simulation, training, or mission rehearsal. Using COTS and open architecture technology, the Independence line of image generators enables rapid deployment for a wide variety of simulation and training applications. It is perfect for fixed- and rotary-wing aviation simulation and training; weapons systems and gunnery training; hardware-in-the-loop sensor simulation; automotive research & development simulation and driver training; military ground vehicle training; fixed-base and forward air traffic control simulation and training; ship’s bridge simulation and training; and mono & stereo scientific visualization and virtual reality.
