DeVry Switches to EQUELLA to Power Content Development

Boston, MA, October 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Learning Edge North America today announced that DeVry Inc. (NYSE:DV) has selected EQUELLA, the award-winning digital repository, to power content development for curriculum across the organization.

DeVry Inc. is a global provider of educational services and the parent organization for DeVry University, Ross University, Apollo College, Western Career College, Chamberlain College of Nursing, Becker Professional Education, Fanor, and Advanced Academics.

EQUELLA was chosen as the preferred solution to enable effective content development across all institutions operated by DeVry.

EQUELLA’s selection resulted from a detailed needs analysis conducted by DeVry to identify the key objectives to be delivered by the implementation of a digital repository, following DeVry’s decision to switch from a previously implemented solution. Key objectives included the need to be interoperable with Pearson eCollege’s Course Management System; effective management of the content development process; and incorporating processes related to content migration, content redesign, and content publishing.

”EQUELLA has proven to be a tool that enables us to author content independent of our course delivery platform and also to package that content so that we can take advantage of a standards-based publishing mechanism. It is enabling us to gain control of our own digital assets,” said Nancy LaChance, Director of Academic Technology Services for DeVry Inc.

A highlight of EQUELLA’s implementation will be the increased efficiencies in DeVry’s existing content authoring processes. Specifically, EQUELLA will be used as a platform to migrate and catalogue content – ensuring the existence of a shared collection of content for reuse across all DeVry institutions. Workflow management will ensure users from these institutions access best-practice and quality-assured content.

“DeVry’s decision to switch to EQUELLA justifies our Content as a Platform position,” said Bob Cupitt, Chief Executive Officer of The Learning Edge North America. “DeVry highlights the power of a central platform to effectively manage the content development lifecycle within higher education institutions.”
