For former University Researcher in Intelligent Robotics, and busy mum of two, Joanne Garrett, the path from academic to maternity wear retailer was as a result of her personal shopping experiences for clothing during pregnancy. Joanne had found it difficult to find simple yet elegant maternity pieces that would see her right through her pregnancy, as well as clothing made of cotton rather than man-made fibres. Following the birth of her second child, the idea was formed to start up a maternity and nursing wear boutique selling gorgeous clothing, most being made of cotton based fabrics, which would be the backbone of a woman’s wardrobe during pregnancy and beyond.
