November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month Santa Clarita’s Capelli Salon to Help Raise Awareness for Pancreatic Cancer

Capelli Salon will be raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer during Third Thursdays Art Walk event in the newly redeveloped Old Town Newhall on Thursday, November 19th from 5pm to 9pm.

Santa Clarita, CA, October 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Santa Clarita’s Capelli Salon to help raise awareness for Pancreatic Cancer during Third Thursdays Art Walk in Old Town Newhall.

Capelli Salon will be raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer during Third Thursdays Art Walk event in the newly redeveloped Old Town Newhall on Thursday, November 19th from 5pm to 9pm . Sabina Fetter, owner of Capelli Salon, whose mother who is currently fighting this disease, will have several fundraising activities including a Bake Sale with home baked goodies from Main Street Treats, a mother and daughter team and new business to Main Street. Also available are purple awareness pins all for a minimum donation of $5. Finally, Capelli Salon will also be offering L’anza Ultimate Treatments for a minimal donation of $20.

Pancreatic cancer is the most lethal cancer in the United States with a five-year survival rate of only 5 percent. This year over 42,000 people will be diagnosed with the disease and over 35,000 will die. Despite the statistics, pancreatic cancer is the most under-funded among leading cancer killers with less than 2 percent of the National Cancer Institute’s annual research budget—a figure far too low given the severity of the disease.

Third Thursdays is a free self guided art walk down Main Street in the Arts District of Old Town Newhall anchored by The Canyon Theatre Guild and the Repertory East Playhouse. This once monthly Art Walk is both reactive and interactive. One can look and appreciate art, purchase art or participate in art. Some of the businesses having alternative venues include: The Canyon Theatre Guild gallery wall, Capelli Salon gallery wall, Outwest Marketing and Cookbooks Plus. Artist will be showing their talents along the beautiful new sidewalks of Main Street between Market and 6th Street. . Join them in promoting and strengthening the arts community in Santa Clarita.
