Fitness For Living Sponsors Halloween PUMP-kin Workout Benefitting EFAA

Boulder, CO, October 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Thanksgiving and the holidays are right around the corner and while the holiday season brings so much joy, for many Boulder County families it is just another time to worry about having enough food. In the spirit of community, the Boot Camp folks at Fitness For Living are gearing up for their 1st Annual Halloween Fitness Food Drive for the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA). A fun twist to this Halloween morning happening is that the entire workout uses a pumpkin in its exercises. The Food Drive Fitness event will take place at Scott Carpenter Park in Boulder on October 31 from 8:45-10 a.m.

So can you get a full body heart-pumping workout with just a pumpkin? “A pumpkin is a perfect substitute for a weighted medicine ball,” comments Camp Trainer Sarah Schutzendorf. “No one will be throwing out their pumpkin this year after they experience the pumpkin overhead lift, pumpkin chest press, pumpkin crunch twist and the pumpkin relay race.” Adding to the zaniness is that participants are encouraged to wear a costume and prizes will be awarded for best costume and spirit.

The PUMP-kin Workout is designed for the athletic beginner and seasoned athlete alike. Under the watchful eye of a personal trainer, participants will run, jump, bound and hoist their way to fitness fun while cheering each other on. Women are encouraged to bring a 5-10 pound pumpkin and men in the 8-14 pound range.

Fitness For Living’s Boot Camps have always been a bit wacky and unorthodox and the company director, David Clair, is excited to ring in a new Halloween tradition for Boulder County. “What better way to start a Halloween weekend then pumping up your health and vitality while helping others. Fitness For Living was created seven years ago to improve lives and give back to the community; our Food Drive is a perfect event to support our mission.”

There is no charge at attend but registration is require. Participants are asked to bring 4 non-perishable items or a $15 donation. To register or for more information visit www.fitliv.com or call 303-550-3491.
