Carey Paul Honda Helps Heroes

Snellville, GA, October 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- As automobiles evolve into more fuel-efficient, alternative fuel, hybrid vehicles, changes abound. It’s not just about the way the vehicle operates, drives or even sounds. Some changes are so obscure that much of the public has never even considered them. For example, the protocol for utilizing certain life-saving equipment at the scene of an accident is quite different with a vehicle that has massive battery power than it is with traditional gasoline engines. And, first responders need to know the safest way to cut away damaged sheet metal and avoid electric shock.

Enter Carey Paul Honda. Recently, the Carey Paul Honda Master Technicians conducted a safety clinic for local Gwinnett County firefighters. The focus was to educate them about new hybrid vehicles and the safest methods in which to use emergency equipment around these “power-packed” wonders.

The Carey Paul Master Technicians gave a detailed course outlining every aspect of the Honda Insight. They taught these first responders how to disengage the hybrid’s 10 kilowatt electric motor and its series of batteries. They also answered many questions regarding electrical risks, weight displacement, acid leaks and more.

“It’s about safety, it’s about community service, it’s about the opportunity to provide somewhat specialized training to our local heroes to ensure their safety and the safety of accident victims,” says Carey Paul Honda General Manager, Lee Crumpton. “Hybrid vehicles are not only fuel-efficient, green and popular, but because of the electrical component and the number of batteries used to provide that power, they are also very different in design and one should know how to go about safely navigating the infrastructure before cutting off damaged parts of the vehicle. Who better to educate our local heroes than us?”

The safety clinic was so well-received that Carey Paul Honda plans to hold additional clinics in the future.

Carey Paul Honda is Atlanta’s oldest Honda dealer and the only locally-owned Honda dealer in Gwinnett. Carey Paul is conveniently located on HWY 78 in Snellville, GA.
